Bubbles Blow!
For the most part, I have gotten past my anxiety over pump set changes. My husband usually fills the pump reservoir while I am prepping and doing the set change. Of the handful of times I've filled the reservoir, I can only recall two times I haven't fought bubbles. Today's schedule necessitated a set change when I was the only parent here. She could've waited for Dad on the reservoir fill part if I hadn't already had to clear a 3" bubble from her tubing (noticed when her glucose meter showed a 246 before lunch, which is unusually high for her), thus, the remaining volume was too low for my comfort. So, I braced myself with confidence and drew up the insulin into the reservoir. Bubbles. Little, teeny, tiny bubbles, and one big one that did not want to move to the top. I cleared most of them when I connected the tubing, but when I went to remove the plunger, it pulled down and I drew tubing air into the reservoir. More bubbles! Ugh! Tips, tricks, suggestions? What am I doing wrong?
