A milestone?
I'm not sure why I've been keeping count, but I do. Yesterday at lunch, I told Bird she was getting her 400th injection of insulin. Her eyes widened to the size of quarters and she replied in awe, "Four hundred shots? That's like ... a billion!"

Type 1 Diabetes: a severe form of diabetes mellitus in which insulin production by the beta cells of the pancreas is impaired, usually resulting in dependence on externally administered insulin, the onset of the disease typically occurring before the age of 25.
